 Rhode Island Lighthouses
In 2000 the Coast Guard leased the lighthouse to the American Lighthouse Foundation for preservation; after local protests, this lease was transferred in 2001 to the Prudence Conservancy.
In 2000 the American Lighthouse Foundation leased the lighthouse from the Coast Guard and helped start the Dutch Island Lighthouse Society to work for restoration of the lighthouse.
In late 2004 the lighthouse became available for transfer under the National Lighthouse Preservation Act; BLMA was coordinating an application for ownership.
