Zenaga language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Zenaga is a Berber language spoken by some 200 to 300 people between Mederdra and the Atlantic coast in southern Mauritania.
The name 'Zenaga' comes from that of a much bigger ancient Berber tribe, known to medieval Arab geographers as the Senhaja; the name "Senegal", ironically, derives from "Zenaga" as well.

Israel wouldn’t have had access to Mauritania in an attempt to hinder Arab reach to Africa, if it wasn’t for the huge political mistakes that turned the reach into obvious pretexts.
The constant factor is that the inhabitants of Nouakchott, who have Arab, Islamic, Zenaga, and tribal origins, are more sensitive towards historical facts.

The Ultimate Hassaniya - American History Information Guide and Reference
Hassaniya is a dialect of Arabic derived from the Arabic spoken by the Beni Hassan tribe, who extended their authority over most of the Mauritanian Sahara between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries.
Though clearly a western dialect, Hassaniya is relatively distant from other North African variants of Arabic; its geographical isolation exposed it to influence from Zenaga and Wolof, and insulated it from the influence of northern Berber languages and Romance languages.
