United Arab Republic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The UAR collapsed in 1961 after a coup d'état in Syria brought a secessionist group to power.
It is unlikely that Egypt or the UAR was actively involved in the coup in Iraq.
Hussein’s response was to propose to Faisal II of Iraq a Jordanian-Iraqi union to counter the UAR, which was formed on February 14, 1958.

Yemen Arab Republic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On 27 September 1962, revolutionaries inspired by the Arab nationalist ideology of United Arab Republic (Egyptian) President Gamal Abdul Nasser deposed the newly-crowned King Muhammad al-Badr, took control of Sanaa, and established the Yemen Arab Republic (YAR).
This coup d'état marked the beginning of the North Yemen Civil War that pitted YAR troops assisted by the United Arab Republic (Egypt) while Saudi Arabia and Jordan supported Badr's royalist forces opposing the newly formed republic.
However, these plans were put on hold in 1979, and war was only prevented by an Arab League intervention.

UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC [United Arab Republic] political union (1958-61) of Egypt and Syria.
Nasser's Egypt, Arab Nationalism, and the United Arab Republic.
As an initial step toward creating a pan-Arab union, the republic abolished Syrian and Egyptian citizenship, termed its inhabitants Arabs, and called the country "Arab territory." It considered the Arab homeland to be the entire area between the Persian Gulf and the Atlantic coast.

The representative of the United Arab Republic said that the Jordanian complaint was clearly a pretext for the British intervention.
The violent and utterly unprecedented press and radio campaign conducted by the United Arab Republic against Lebanon was, he said, unmistakably aimed at the overthrow of the existing regime in Lebanon, and the replacement of it with one more subservient to the will of the United Arab Republic.
The invasion by British troops showed that there was a conspiracy between the United Kingdom and the United States against the peace-loving peoples of the Near and Middle East and particularly against the liberation movement of the Arab peoples.

Talk:United Arab Republic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It was so sad to see the United Arab Republic collapsed because of the arrogancy of those Egyptian officers.
Because in a paragraph other Arab flags are mentionned as if they had been inspired by UAR's.
Much would have been achieved if the United Arab Republic is still there.

 Pan-Arab Colours
In 1947, the Arab Ba'ath Party interpreted the flag as a symbol of the liberation and unity of the Arab nation.
The Arab Liberation flags have five-pointed stars: The United Arab Republic flag of 1958 had two stars (in green to restore the missing pan-Arab colour) representing Egypt and Syria.
Since this tide of Arab nationalism did not result in Arab unity, as the failure of the UAR helped show, it is not surprising that the current Egyptian government ties the color scheme to purely Egyptian ideologies.

Several assertions that war with Israel would be folly and that it is "not on the agenda".
He also doubts that his request for the UAR's own suggestions will be responded to although he believes from Nasser's attitude that this possibility cannot be completely dismissed.
Nasser reiterated emphasis on the return of most of the refugees (with a wry recognition that B.G. could not accept this), coupled with his mention (not fully spelled out) of a Palestine in which Jews and Arabs would have equal rights; all three men referred more than once to "second-class citizenship" of Arabs in Israel.

Withdrawal of the UNEF from the United Arab Republic
When, for example, the United Arab Republic decided to move its troops up to the line, which it had a perfect right to do, the buffer function which UNEF had been performing was eliminated.
It is a fact beyond dispute that neither UNEF nor any other United Nations peace-keeping operation thus far undertaken would have been permitted to enter the territory involved if there had been any suggestion that it had the right to remain there against the will of the governing authority.
The reasons for this decision have not been officially stated, but they were clearly regarded as overriding by the Government of the United Arab Republic.

Overview - Syrian Arab Republic Country Guide - World Travel Guide
However, the alliance was short-lived, Syria seceding in 1961 to form the Syrian Arab Republic.
In short, the Syrian Arab Republic's long history is littered with dramatic episodes, from being subsumed into past Empires (Babylonians, Canaanites, Assyrians, Phoenicians, and so on) to more recent events, such as Napoleon’s campaign in 1799/1800, the Egyptian invasion in the 1830s and the insurrection in 1860-61.
Such doctrine over-spilled into Arab nationalism in the 1950s - indeed, Nasser’s revolution in Egypt prompted Syria to join Egypt in the United Arab Republic.

Officially al-Jumhuriyah al-Arabiyah as-Suriyah, republic, southwestern Asia, bounded on the north by Turkey, on the east by Iraq, on the south by Jordan and Israel, and on the west by Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea.
The Arabs, in alliance with the British and French, fought the Turks for the rest of the war and participated in the capture of Dimashq in 1918.
The movement nevertheless gave impetus to Syrian adherence to the Arab League, which was formed primarily to prevent the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine.
