New Statesman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Freeman left in 1965 and was followed in the chair by Paul Johnson, under whose editorship the Statesman reached its highest ever circulation of 90,000.
The Statesman's circulation grew massively under Martin's editorship, reaching 70,000 by 1945, and it became a key player in Labour politics.
It became strongly anti-fascist and was generally critical of the government policy of appeasement of Mussolini and Hitler (though it did not back British rearmament).

 Statesman
When Axis forces attacked Paragon City in 1941, the Statesman and the Freedom Phalanx were at the forefront of a heroic effort to push back these invaders.
He is one of the few established heroes left alive and it is believed that he continues to lead a version of the Freedom Phalanx, which presumably includes other members of the "Surviving Eight" - eight prominent heroes who escaped the Rikti invasion with their lives.
Due largely to the Statesman's heroic efforts, the Axis forces were eventually pushed back, allowing the Allies to move into France.

Austin American Statesman Watch : Blog
Today's Austin American Statesman ran an AP story (actually more of a press release disguised as a news story from the left wing activist group Human Rights Watch) with this inflamatory headline, "Group: U.S. tortured detainees in secret." The story is located at http://www.statesman.com/news/content/shared- gen/ap/Asia/Afghan_Secret_Prison.html.
I chose a subject that is somewhat narrow (monitoring the Austin American Statesman), but at the same time it was a good way to get readers because many people have issues with the Statesman while not too many care about Gregg Geil's personal opinions.
Buried inside Section A of today's Austin American Statesman (in the World Digest section) is a huge international story that is effectively being buried.

Maybe "Turd Blossom" is an important legacy for archivists, who might find echoes of Ronald Reagan's own poop musings.
