Ponza - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ponza is said to have been connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land, which sunk into the sea with most of the island below the water, with the parts remaining above sea level.
Legend says that Ponza is what is left of the lost island of Tyrrhenia, which somewhat resembles the Atlantis legend.
The island is well known for the tragic story of Lucia Rosa who threw herself into the Tyrrhenian Sea rather than being forced to marry a man she did not want.

Basically, Ponza was a mono red deck that used land destruction (LD) to gain tempo, and proceeded to win by either burning an opponent to death, or use a big creature (like Crimson Hellkite, or Shivan Dragon) to deal the final points of damage.
A lot of the power in this deck comes from the experience gained by playtesting, so if you want to try something new, or a solid, tier 2 sleeper deck, Ponza may just be for you.
As with almost any deck in Type 2, Ponza is not the powerhouse it once was, but can be a very good metagame choice for your next Type 2 tournament.
