Topic: Marwan II

Islam and Fragmentation, to 1200 CE
Marwan extended his rule through Palestine to Egypt, persuading Arab tribesmen in Egypt to change their support from Zubayr to himself.
This was Walid II, who was to be accused of being a shallow bon vivant, a handsome man who neglected rule, who spent much of the state's money and pursued pleasures that included drink and debauchery at his desert retreats.
And Jews were ordered to cut their forelocks.

 Middle Eastern History
Yazid III, son of Walid I, with the backing of the Marwanid clain, seized Damascus in a coup and in April of 744, Walid II was murdered near Palmyra.
He was partial to the Qays faction, and thus hated by the Kalb.
Only southern Syria recognized him, however, and when Marwan arrived to find Walid II's son murdered, he seized the throne for himself.

Marwan was not only the last Arab general to attack the Khazars, he was also the last Caliph to pursue an expansionist policy devoted, at least in theory, to the ideal of making Islam triumph all over the world.
The last Arab campaign was led by the future Caliph Marwan II, and ended in a Pyrrhic victory.
Given this background, Marwan was simply not in a position to exhaust his resources by further wars with the Khazars.

A credible eyewitness to the terrorist conspiracy’s activities in Florida told the MadCowMorningNews that the way had already been smoothed for Marwan Al-Shehhi before he arrived in Venice, by a woman named “Sarah,” supposedly his cousin, who went to work as a pharmacist at an Eckerds drug’s in nearby Nokomis in 1999.
We don’t suppose the 9/11Commission has heard testimony from any eyewitnesses to the terrorist conspiracies activities during their time in the U.S., which seems an almost criminal oversight.

 Abbasid Ceramics: The Historical Background
At the outset, they seized the whole of Khurasan, then advanced towards Iraq.
Open revolt broke out in 747, during the reign of Marwan II (744-750): the Abbasids had as their emblem black standards, which were unfurled at Merv in Khurasan, symbolising the launch of a military attack against the Umayyads, who were denounced as “enemies of the family of the Prophet”.
Thus, they invested the new ideology with a religious aspect: accusing the Umayyads of betraying real Islam, they claimed that order and justice could only be restored if political power were returned to the family of the Prophet.

Civil War and the Umayyad Dynasty
The leader of the 'Abassids, Abu'l-'Abbas, went about systematically and ruthlessly killing as many Umayyads as he could find.
With their combined forces, they defeated the last of the Marwani calphis, Marwan II (744-750/127-32), who was later murdered.
This intemperate act inspired the people of Medina to revolt—Yazid put down this revolt and then laid siege to Mecca.

The Ultimate: Sameera / the struggle of a single woman “II”
Why was she so vulnerable, she hated herself for being so weak at his presence that she could not even have a glimpse of him.
Now her doubts were in place; Marwan is around twenty- two, and she had made a fool of herself, enough, she would put all that behind her now and Marwan’s episode is finished as far as she was concerned.
She was unsure of how to react to this situation, so she left Marwan’s calls unanswered until she would find the time to call Fahad, in who’s place she met Marwan, and indirectly dig out more information about Marwan, she wanted to be sure how to deal with this new situation.

The Arab gold and silver coins excavated in Potoci, near Mostar of the present-day Bosnia-Hercegovina, date back to the time of Marwan II (744-750) which tells of the extensive trade relations the Muslims had with the Balkan nations, first the Albanians and later the Slavs.
Such strong trade relations were established since the ancient times, and went on into the pre-Ottoman and Ottoman periods.
