 Corneliu Zelea Codreanu
It is because the Legionary spirit persists, invisible but tenacious, anchored in the depths of the Romanian soul as the only salvation for the nation, and perhaps for the world, which sees and feels itself carried toward the abyss.
These were premeditated actions which were to be charged to the Legionary Movement and presented to the Germans as undisciplined and unconscionable actions on part of the Legonaires.
If, up until now, the Legionary Movement has been presented in a derogatory light, it is because the foundations of its doctrine, as well as its educational precepts, ran counter to the political conceptions based on materialism and immorality.

Thus, a scheme by the government to hijack the ideals of the 1922 student revolt was thwarted, and the ideals of the Legionary Movement were promoted further with much success.

 Legionary denarii - Cleopatra's silver ?
I have read that the legionary denarii issued by Marcus Antonius were probably struck on silver out of Cleopatra's treasure.
This money could only have come from the Queen herself.
Presumably, this is because Antony and Cleo were doing their best to stretch the resources in the face of a possible lengthy war with Octavian's forces, so they put in as much filler as they thought they could get away with.

Remarkably similar items frequently appear as "legionary" rings (not a few from the same seller, I note), usually with the same sort of breathless comments: 'marks for kills!', 'marks for battle!', 'depicting legionary standards and symbols!'.
The only 'legionary' rings are the sort you find on military sites
I would be equally interested to find out if there is any basis in this at all, but seeing now that they can also be 'gladiator' rings, it seems rather less likely.
