Sleeping in the lighthouse in the middle of the sea is a different experience and by doing so you get to use the sauna, probably the only one in Finland made out of granite.
Bengtskär lighthouse was built in 1906 and rises 52 metres from the sea, making it the tallest lighthouse in Scandinavia.
Every year over 10 000 people visit Bengtskär, around 1000 stay overnight in the lighthouse.

Report submitted for the 1998 Gulf of Finland Annual Assessment
These examples show a high vulnerability of the Gulf of Finland to the invasions of potentially harmful alien species.
Besides Dreissena and Cercopagis, a number of other alien species have been recently found in the Gulf of Finland waters, whose impact on the Gulf of Finland ecosystems can be significant: a Ponto-Caspian hydroid Cordylophora caspia, North-American polychaete Marenzelleria viridis, New Zealand snail Potamopyrgus antipodarum, Baikalian amphipod Gmelinoides fasciatus, American barnacle Balanus improvisus.
Two alien species identified at the BMB WG 30 NEMO meetings as "hot" or "black list" species, whose impact on Baltic Sea ecosystems seems to be very important, are now established in the Gulf of Finland.

THE GULF OF FINLAND by Christine Pakkala
When their father dies the day after Greta graduates from college in Idaho, Greta buries him alone and finds, in an old desk in his house, four years of unopened letters from Annie, who had disappeared and was presumed dead.
Once there she has no idea where to begin, but stumbles on a job at Berlitz while attempting to track her sister down.
As the story unfolds, we experience the two sisters' harrowing childhood through flashbacks in the form of letters the child Greta wrote to Ann Marie (aka "That Girl"), and we observe Greta's discovery of her self as she finds her sister - and ultimately comes to her rescue.

Completely frozen by January 9, the port held 26 ships locked up in ice, while about 50 more that were bound for the port city were forced to remain at sea in the Baltic (image left), waiting for icebreakers to completely open the shipping lanes.
The bitter cold snap bearing down on northwest Russia and eastern Europe that has claimed many lives over the last few weeks has also locked the Gulf of Finland up in ice.
At the far eastern end of the Gulf lies the city of St. Petersburg, an important port for regional trade.
