Democratic Kampuchea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On the surface, society in Democratic Kampuchea was strictly egalitarian.
Critics such as Human Rights Watch alleged that U.S. policy was contradictory; while claiming to not support the Khmer Rouge, the U.S. continually supported UN recognition of the shadow Coalition Government of Democratic Kampuchea (CGDK, formed in 1982) as the legitimate Cambodian government, despite the fact that the tripartite alliance included the Khmer Rouge.
In its general contours, Democratic Kampuchea's economic policy was similar to, and possibly inspired by, China's radical Great Leap Forward that carried out immediate collectivization of the Chinese countryside in 1958.

Khmer Rouge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It was also known as the Communist Party of Kampuchea, the Khmer Communist Party and the National Army of Democratic Kampuchea.
The official name of the Khmer Rouge was the Communist Party of Cambodia, later the Party of Democratic Kampuchea.
It was deposed by the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 1979, after which the latter installed a pro-Soviet communist regime in Cambodia.

This evidence confirms that the highest officials of the Communist Party of Kampuchea were in control of the Democratic Kampuchea security apparatus, and that they directed the extermination of a still unknown, but very high percentage of the population of the country.
The first class of evidence is the result of a satellite mapping survey of several zones of Democratic Kampuchea, in which researchers attempted to create a comprehensive inventory of the prisons, execution centers and mass graves created during the Democratic Kampuchea regime.
This evidence suggests that there was a centralized execution system which operated at high efficiency over the entire course of the Democratic Kampuchea regime, resulting in an estimated ten thousand to twenty thousand mass graves in Cambodia.

Concluding Observations - CERD - Cambodia - Concluding observations adopted up to December 31, 2003
The report was introduced by the representative of Democratic Kampuchea, who referred to the Vietnamese war of occupation that ravaged his country since December 1978 and to the fact that his Government would not be in a position to prepare a proper report until the foreign occupying forces had withdrawn.
He stressed that his Government had already responded on various occasions to the accusations of genocide of the Kampuchean people: the very survival of Democratic Kampuchea and the formation of its coalition Government constituted an incontrovertible refutation of the claims of the occupiers.
It was pointed out that Democratic Kampuchea did not exercise sovereignty over Kampuchean territory and could not claim to represent Kampuchea internationally.

On the outset of its governance, Democratic Kampuchea divided people into two groups; “base people” and “new people”.
What Pol Pot had promised that his regime would bring the innovative circle for the people; justice, opportunity for the uneducated and the poor, turning elite’s political power into people’s hands, etc, were been done very little.
In that book, she stated that leader would resemble the water, which is always cool and timelessly beneficial.

What Went Wrong with the Pol Pot Regime
Whenever Pol Pot is mentioned (often, considering that it has been two decades since the demise of his Democratic Kampuchea regime), the conclusion is always the same: revolution is worse than the social ills it claims to cure.
The Communist Party of Kampuchea was founded in 1960.
Since this was not seen as a political and ideological line struggle and certainly not as one that had to be taken to the masses, Democratic Kampuchea's failures were reduced to a police question and dealt with accordingly.

The prestige of his name assisted the insurgents in attracting new recruits from the peasantry, but control of the movement rested with the Communist Party under the nominal leadership of Khieu Samphan of the Paris-educated faction of the Communist Party, rather than a Hanoi returnee.
The middle class opposed Sihanouk's foreign policy and resented his increasingly autocratic rule, as did the leftists including Paris-educated leaders such as Son Sen, Ieng Sary, and Saloth Sar (later known as Pol Pot), who led an insurgency under the clandestine Communist Party of Kampuchea (CPK).
These organizations provided a political alternative to the Vietnamese-supported People's Republic of Kampuchea [PRK] and the murderous Khmer Rouge.
