The American Enterprise: One Nation, Out of Many
Throughout our history, people who were not white, Anglo-Saxon Protestants have become Americans by adopting America's Anglo-Protestant culture and political values.
Multiculturalists argue that white Anglo America has suppressed other cultural alternatives, and that America in the future should not be a society with a single pervasive national culture, but instead should become a "tossed salad" of many starkly different ingredients.
The answer is no. It would not be America; it would be Quebec, Mexico, or Brazil.

Similarly, America is no longer properly seen as a new nation that sprang, like Athena fully-formed from the head of Zeus, into the world in 1776.
This led him further afield to understand which groups of Britons in the home islands supported the Crown's attempt to keep America in the Empire, and which supported compromise or independence, and which other members of the Empire sympathised with the American secessionists, and who would have joined them, given the opportunity.
His research on the Revolution led him to understand which groups of Americans came to support independence, which supported the Crown and imperial unity, and which tried to remain neutral.

America & Britain in Prophecy -- Chapter 3: Anglo-American Ethnic Roots
No one disputes the Anglo-Saxon-Celtic background of the British, by whom Colonial America was primarily settled.
According to the 1980 U.S. Census figures previously cited, "Germans" were the second-largest ethnic group in America after the English.
Jones says that most Americans have preferred to mix culturally, socially and religiously with those of their own ethnic background: "They seldom intermarried and it was soon clear that intermingling, far from producing social unity, generated ethnic discord which could erupt into open violence.

 INTERRACIAL VOICE - Point-CounterPoint
Anglo-Saxon America should be envious of the work-rate and ethic of immigrants because it's far superior to theirs.
In Latin America the wounds are still there, oppressive governments have come and gone, but hatred is not something which divides our people and healing has long been a uniting force in our nations.
If everyone in America were to go back to their country of linage/ancestry if it were better or become better then America, there would be no America left, most people would be gone.

 Borderlands circa 1900 A.D.
The issue of Taxation which the Mexicano delegation hoped would rest in the power of individual counties, was also defeated by Anglo delegates who worried that county power would promote “fraud and deception” by “large land owners” particularly those in Mexicano communities (Morefield Richard, “The Mexican Adaptation in American California 1846-1875,” M.A. Unv.
The Anglo Protestant conceptualized view recognized the Mexican American War as a “part of a mission, of the destiny, to Americanize this continent" (ibid).
Mexicanos recognized the importance of protecting this century old tradition, but Anglo delegates in California saw such an institution as subverting the Common Law that was at the heart of the American legal system (see Carry Mc Willams’ work for information on this subject).

Harvard University Press/The Rise and Fall of Anglo-America
Kaufmann begins his account shortly after independence, when white Protestants with an Anglo-Saxon myth of descent established themselves as the dominant American ethnic group.
But from the late 1890s to the 1930s, liberal and cosmopolitan ideological currents within white Anglo-Saxon Protestant America mounted a powerful challenge to WASP hegemony.
It gathered social force by the 1920s, struggling against WASP dominance and achieving institutional breakthrough in the late 1960s, when America truly began to integrate ethnic minorities into mainstream culture.

Who We Will Be by Ross Douthat - Policy Review, No. 127
This distinction is crucial for Huntington, who insists that it is the initial settler culture — English in language and custom, Protestant in religious inclination — into which every subsequent immigrant group has assimilated, losing their own particular identity in a general Anglo-Protestant sea.
Rather, it’s a country like the one we already have, except more so: a semi-bilingual America in which a cosmopolitan and post-patriotic elite governs a shrinking middle class and an ever-expanding, badly-assimilated population of immigrants.
Huntington puts forward the case for this understanding of America, and American-ness, in his latest book, Who Are We?

He's at his worst when he thinks he's being generous, as here: "Throughout America's history, people who were not white Anglo-Saxon Protestants have become Americans by adopting America's Anglo-Protestant culture and political values.
The question is disingenuous because Huntington already has an answer, the same one that has been peddled by American bigots for hundreds of years: America is and must remain an Anglo-Protestant culture.
Most of them came to America as the victims of an artificial famine in which their landlords provided the natives with a fine example of Anglo-Protestant humanity by continuing to export vast quantities of grain and beef while the Catholic peasantry starved to death in huge numbers.

Watch on the West: America’s Identity and American Foreign Policy - FPRI
Since the real America has always been an Anglo-America, it is appropriate that our frontispiece for this issue of Orbis depicts the first flag shared by all thirteen united British-American colonies.
A hundred years ago, at the beginning of the twentieth century, it was a commonplace among the political, social, and intellectual elites of the United States that America had been decisively shaped by its British origins.
Pocock, a distinguished British historian of political thought who also has taught for many years in America, reviews the contending ideas about republic and empire, liberty and authority, that were prevalent in Britain and America during the colonial and revolutionary eras.

Comparison: Latin American and Anglo American Characteristics
This is not a phenomenon that was unique to Anglo Americans, but rather one common in all interdependent societal relations.
He also refers to the phenomenon of weak government found among Anglo-Americans.
Civil religion was promoted by the Anglo American nation both by the citizens themselves in order to develop their culture by strengthening their sense of nationalism, and by the government - since the Supreme Court's ruling regarding the reading of the Bible in public schools was an act of the central government.

I can’t give enough thanks to all those who have served America to keep it free, and who have brought freedom to so much of the rest of world while doing it.
Because many of the non-whites in questions aren’t citizens, and God forbid that other nations’ citizens aren’t adequately represented in America’s legislative chambers.

I think it's fair to say that without the American victory the English-speaking future would have been quite different than what it was.
Who knows what would have happened to Britain and who knows what would have happened to the British colonies in North America?
Their victories were not coincidental by any means in the other tests that were war related: the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars and then World Wars I and II.

North America: Definition and Much More From Answers.com
The United States, Canada, and the other English-speaking nations of the Americas (Belize, Guyana, and the anglophone Caribbean) are sometimes grouped under the term Anglo-America, while the remaining nations of North and South America are grouped under the term Latin America.
Of greater impact on the subsequent history of the continent were Christopher Columbus's exploration of the Bahamas in 1492 and later landings in the West Indies and Central America, and John Cabot's explorations of E Canada (1497), which established English claims to the continent.

Just when the notion arose that the American colonists were pure Anglo-Saxons, who in turn were the purest of the pure, the very aristocracy of blondness, is not certain.
This is in essence Protestant Anglo-Saxon America reassuring itself of its inherent superiority,
America is not now and never, has been Anglo-Saxon in race, if one use his terms in an anthropological rather than a poetical or romantic sense.

Who's Continent is it Anyway? - United Native America
Recently, we came across a 1998 Newsweek copyrighted map that refers to the United States and Canada as "Anglo America" and all points south as "Latin America and the Caribbean." On this world migration map, as one person noted, America is the only continent that has demographics mixed with geography.
Anglo, but North America is all U.S.A."Many were horrified at the map's educational design: Carrie Medina de Espina, Portland, Ore. wrote: "If I were to walk into my child's classroom and see such an overt racist theology hanging on the classroom wall, I would be compelled to remove it and permanently destroy this hate-teaching tool."
Neither "Anglo" nor "Latin" America was acceptable for many.

All of this, when taking into account the number of Mexicans and Latin Americans in the United States, constitutes a cultural threat for that which Huntington dares to mention: the Anglo-American, Protestant, and Anglo speaking white race.
Mexico City —“The best Indian is a dead Indian.” “The best nigger is a nigger slave.” “The yellow threat.” “The red threat.” The Puritanism one finds at the base of WASP culture (White, Anglo Saxon, and Protestant) in the United States of America expresses itself, from time to time, with shocking color.
Even, if, in a curiously benevolent way, he offers his space to “Christianism.” Most assuredly, Israel and Islam are menaces to be equally condemned as are Mexico and Hispanic America, and, by extension today’s Spain, for their undesirable incursions into the old territories of Huntington’s Kingdom.

Anglo America and De Beers face multibillion dollar lawsuit for alleged apartheid era abuses
Lawyers for former diamond workers in South Africa have filed a $6.1 billion class-action lawsuit against mining giants Anglo American and De Beers for alleged mistreatment of workers under the former racist apartheid regime, a lawyer said Monday.
The suit was filed in a Nevada court, Anglo America's base in the United States, according to Ngcebetsha.
Black Anglo American and De Beers workers were paid less than their white counterparts, beaten and intimidated when they tried to unionize, and were not compensated for workplace injuries, said John Ngcebetsha, a South African lawyer representing former employees here.

Commentary Magazine - Growing Pains of Anglo-America
...But there is in many quarters an undercurrent of hostility to Britain, which unlike the old straightforward American criticism of Britain as an imperialist power or the clear-cut criticism based on policy, is related to something internal, and perhaps inadequate, in America's own way of life...
...Similarly, the British would be wise to consider who, in fact, in America is calling for war against China proper, and whether these calls to arms have any real popular support among the actual policy-makers...
...This view is "authentic" to America in that it reflects recognizable characteristics of public feeling in the United States, a determination that American policy shall stand for something noble, a refusal to compromise with evil, and an automatic conviction that no task is too big for America to undertake...

AM Archive - Anglo America wants greater control over Anaconda
DAVID WEBER: Reports this week that Anglo American was planning a takeover of Anaconda generated an increase in the share price.
As David Weber reports, Anglo's concerns are centred on delays at Anaconda's $1 billion Murrin Murrin nickel mine.
Anglo currently has about 25 per cent of Anaconda, which is largely foreign owned and is based and listed in Perth.

MootStormfront.org - Eric Kaufmann: the decline of Anglo-America
Kaufmann's empirically grounded thesis is that the challenge to nativist WASP ethnic dominance with America emerged from liberal and cosmopolitian currents within the White Anglo-Saxon elite itself (emerging in the 1890s-1920s; realised in the 1960s).
As an antidote to Buchanan, and sub-Buchanan rants by old Davey Duke, on the decline of demographic decline of "White" America, I advance the work of Eric Kaufmann, author of The Decline of Anglo-America as a counterpoint.
He treats the notion of the decline of Anglo-Saxons as the predominant ethnic in a serious and non-alarmist, non-racially apocalyptic manner and outlines the history and civic implications of such a change for the conception of the nation.

Anglo-America - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The term Anglo-America is used to describe those parts of North America in which English is the main language.
United Kingdom on one hand and the Americas, in particular the United States, on the other.
This usage occurs most frequently in the discussion of the history of English-speaking people of the United States and the Spanish-speaking people assimilated into its borders during the Mexican American War.
